Ice Climbing India

Spiti is a high-altitude cold desert, with its valleys stretching across an average elevation of 3,800 metres and villages inhabiting landscapes as high as 4,500 metres. Its long winters transform waterfalls into pillars of ice, creating an extraordinary landscape for ice climbing. While ice climbing has traditionally been dominated by Western countries, a new generation of Indian climbers is steadily shaping the sport at home. They are exploring untouched lines, establishing new routes, and building the knowledge and skills needed to grow a sustainable climbing community. Pitidhar exists to support this movement. Through education, mentorship, and accessible experiences, it aims to introduce more people to the world of ice climbing while nurturing the next generation of climbers in the Indian Himalaya.
